Review of I Vitelloni (1953) by Liam P — 23 Jun 2007
To my mind, one of the most beautiful stories of growing up ever, and a template of sorts for dozens of similar movies ever since. Five guys living in a sleepy little Italian town have reached that make-or-break point where you either find your destiny or resign yourself to living out the same dreary lives as your parents -- moving forward or staying still.
One young man wants to be a writer, another has knocked up a girl and has to marry her -- but his playboy days are far from over -- another is constantly worried about his sister, and all of them, whether they know it or not, are running out of time.
