Review of I, Tonya (2017) by Imthenoob — 07 Mar 2018
I thought it was definitely uniquely written. The writer interview Harding and her husband, both providing conflicting narratives of events that were combined into a story that makes sense...sort of. The entire film is left up to the viewer to decide which combination of events are true/false and I thought that fit perfectly with how Tonya Harding's life should be portrayed on screen. The dark humour simply works and it's a big reason I enjoy the film.
The cast did a great job as well. Margot Robbie, despite playing the title character, was oddly not as prominent in the film as I expected her to be. Instead, It was Allison Janney, who played Tonya's Mom, and Sebastian Shaw, who played her ex-husband, who stole the show and made this movie all the more enjoyable.
It's a unique movie and definitely one of the more stand-out films of the year, Definitely in my top 5.
