Review of I, Tonya (2017) by Calder F — 01 Mar 2018
I, Tonya, directed by Craig Gillespie, tells the story of Tonya Harding (Margot Robbie), and her infamous "attack" on fellow skater Nancy Kerrigan. This was a movie I had been anticipating since the excellent first trailer.
This was one of the most funny, heartfelt, interesting movies I have seen all year. It does a great job of making Tonya a sympathetic, fascinating person, while at the same time not shying away from what she was involved with.
Allison Janney is fantastic as Tonya's mother. Her performance is both disturbing and hilarious. This is an excellent, emotionally resonant movie that you should definitely check out.
