Review of I Think I Love My Wife (2007) by Andy S — 13 Dec 2009
Directed, written and produced by Chris Rock, I Think I Love my Wife is one of the smartest, most mature comedies in years and undoubtedly one of the funniest.
As a screenwriter, Chris Rock takes what feels like a stand-up routine and extends it into a full story with character development, witty observation and genuine sensitivity. As a director, Rock adds comic flare to the timing of his movie, letting it wander just enough to give it the weight of a drama, while maintaining the playfulness necessary for a solid comedy. There are several laugh-out-loud moments here and enough variety of situation to keep an audience waiting for more.
Kudos to Chris Rock on finally figuring out how to make a decent movie.
