Review of I Spit on Your Grave (2010) by Dan B — 09 Sep 2011
This remake of a notorious nasty is arguably even more problematic than its much-banned predecessor. There was almost a crude innocence in the original, as exploitation cinema grappled with the concept of feminism.
(Yes, I am actually saying that.) Some 30 odd years later we should all really know better and the first half is quite relentlessly awful. But if you make it to the revenge section, there are some inventive post-Saw body horrors, that make it just about worth a look, but probably only for hardcore genre fans.
Certainly not a date movie.
