Review of I Sell the Dead (2008) by Mark V — 16 Jul 2011
This is a guilty pleasure. This has to be one of the oddest vampire/zombie films ever made. On the night before his execution for a murder he didn't commit (which is never explained), a gravedigger tells his macbre tales to a priest.
I thought Larry Fessenden was very good, and Ron Perlman, as the priest, has the greatest facial expressions around. The story is sometimes silly (somebody please explain the alien!) but the story of the 5-year old raw-rabbit eating Cornelius Murphy had me rolling.
The vampire sequence is a hoot as well. This isn't award-winning material by any stretch, but for a good Halloween flick that's offbeat and not a splatterfest, it's worth a viewing.
