Review of I Saw the Devil (2010) by Erick F — 01 Jul 2011
Min-Sik Choi does it a fucking again with another beautifully fucked up movie. The cinematography is wonderful, the acting superb, the directing is great and the story manipulation of the classic Serial Killer films is awesome.
This film plays off of all the serial killer films you ever seen, then dances elegantly around that idea. This film had a little bit for everybody. If you are into well told emotional stories, this does that.
If you just like to see awesome SPFX full of death scenes and gore. This is it. If you are into generally fucked up films, this is DEFINITELY IT FOR YOU. Everything about this film is good. THE ONLY KNOCK I give it, is that the entire story is set up so it can feature the really fucked up deaths/torture scenes, which isn't an issue at all, that is the type of movie it is.
(It also does a lot with the story to make you not realize that) So with so much gore, I don't know if a casual fan would enjoy. But I LOVE FUCKED UP FILMS AND THIS IS ONE OF THEM! Good Concept, Good Execution.
WATCH IT IF YOU WANT TO BE SHOCKED AND AWED!
