Review of I Love You, Beth Cooper (2009) by Sevag D — 23 Nov 2010
Good for cable, save your rental money. It's a stupid comedy that I can't help but watch whenever it's on cable. I even felt compelled to write a review on this dumb movie, so clearly it has some undefinable appeal to it.
A classic nerd get the head cheerleader high school shenanigans story with terrible acting and bad writing. Some scenes seem like they should have been reshot but either budget constraints or just the lack of desire to continue working on this movie made the director say "screw it, good enough, cut, print.".
Not much is laugh out loud funny and every scenario has been done better in another movie. I'm pretty sure they cast the blonde "hot friend" to make Hayden look less short and chubby in comparison. The nerdy guy is so awkward that you feel awkward and Hayden is so unhappy (in her role and probably as an actress while filming this) that you truly feel bad for her. Maybe that's why I like this movie, you can really see everything going on. I guess it leaves alot to discuss and analyze too.
