Review of I Love You, Beth Cooper (2009) by Ferdous I — 13 Apr 2011
Perhaps I'll be the only one to give a positive review of this film (if I do)?
What a prediction! Indeed, I enjoyed this film and it isn't an "exploitive" film by any means.
I can relate to the nerdy character although I wasn't particularly nerdy, I also was athletic and smart and still am.
I can relate to his struggle to speak to someone he loved, his problems with single minded bullies, his issues with school and society, and just the premise of taking a chance to tell someone how I care about them.
Perhaps a woman writer may've written a better relationship film than this writer but the "warts and all" seems so true to life. Yes, there are some things that appear to be "Hollywood licence" but this is a film not a documentary, perhaps something of a spoof?
So filmmakers, you got it "right enough", this time and this film joins "Before Sunrise", "Before Sunset", "Somewhere in Time" and "2 Days in Paris" as one of my favorite relationship films!
