Review of I Kill Giants (2017) by Maria D — 24 Apr 2018
I'm not sure how to describe this film without giving everything away. Its simply brilliant, the lead is just a complete joy to watch and she will have you laughing out loud on very regular basis. And this isn't some light tween movie, it deals with heavy subject matter in a very respectful and conscientious way which will have you in tears by the end.
I suppose it's half fantasy and half coming of age drama, and has parallels to the like of Stand by me, only minus the 50's nostalgia. With that film in mind, you might understand why 79% is criminal in my opinion, how a quiet place with its multitude of movie sins gets 100% is nonsensical.
This is a breakthrough performance for the leading lady and deserves far more credit on here than its getting.
