Just badly made. Bad camerawork and bad dialogue with awkward delivery. It contains references to better films which are ill-judged because merely thinking of those films is more enjoyable than watching this one.
It is also a project of extraordinary self-absorption for Nia Vardalos, and her apparent unawareness of its awfulness is even more diagnostic of her unashamed narcissism, which could be interesting to observe from a voyeuristic perspective were it not so boring.
It's sad to see people I like, such as Judah Friedlander from '30 Rock', in this kind of drivel.
