Review of I Feel Pretty (2018) by Adrian D — 28 Apr 2018
2 out of 5 Star Review:
Amy Schumer stars in this comedy film about a woman who struggles with various insecurities and confidence problems until she one day falls off a stationary bike and realizes she looks and feels amazing. The movie certainly had its funny moments with many jokes that had the audience laughing. But as the movie wore on, the jokes became less frequent to focus on Renee's transformational journey to becoming a more confident person...which is by no means a bad thing. I applaud the filmmakers for choosing story over non-stop jokes for the sake of comedy. However, the film begins to drag as it nears the end as it becomes obvious to the audience that Renee will have to at some point come to terms with who she is, accept it and rise above her previous self. But for Renee the times it takes to get to that point just dragged on a bit too much which ultimately left the film feeling a little flat once she finally did make realization. Good message overall to everyone but execution was not so good.
