Review of I Feel Pretty (2018) by Laura F — 15 May 2018
Not sure why this film only has 34%. I found it to be sincere, poignant and genuinely funny. I was totally convinced by Schumer's character. I loved the fact that she didn't actually have to become aesthetically prettier to become more attractive. The point was if you feel pretty on the inside you have the confidence to do the things that you otherwise may have been conditioned to believe that you are not supposed to do. The job application and the bikini contest was the perfect example. The message being, she didn't win but she had a bloody good time taking part and everyone enjoyed her performance. I also liked that she attracted the hot guy. He wasn't thick, there wasn't an agenda he just liked her because she was 'dazzling'. Yes at last!! About time. We so often see the older or heavier guy with the younger supermodel girlfriends and wives...but we never see the average looking, heavier woman with the buff guy. It happens you know!
Charming, relatable and inspiring!
