Review of I, Daniel Blake (2016) by John C — 31 Oct 2016
Excellent cast, but patronising, simplistic, and hopelessly cliched, particularly the fate of the lead character. There are real people out there, but the film abused the nuances of character to promote a one-sided political dogma.
I am sure that many of those who see the film will strongly disagree with me. I do however fully endorse the final statements in the film. We are all citizens and deserve to be treated with respect, and as individuals, but those noble aims are best not delivered from a one- directional soapbox.
