Review of I, Daniel Blake (2016) by Nicolette H — 13 Jan 2017
Hearing this win the Palme D'Or at Cannes this year definitely peaked my interest. This was upsetting & heartbreaking. Cried of course. All the actors were great. It was just a raw & real story.
Even though I have never been in the positions that are happening in this movie, I could still relate cause I'm HUMAN. Reading reviews that this stuff is going on in Britain right now breaks my heart.
I'm sure stuff like this happens over here too. I will say it got a little slow at some points & their accents sometimes made it a little hard for me to know exactly what they were talking about.
But still able to follow. That food bank scene absolutely broke my heart & has stayed with me. Also loved the statements at the end. Where is the humanity? If you can see this, I recommend you should.
