Review of I Am Sam (2014) by Deepak S — 27 Mar 2013
There are some films which can be seen again and again. In my book . this one is right there at the top.Sean Penn plays Sam, a single father with developmental disability trying to bring up his daughter Lucy( a young Dakota Fanning).
Sam's life begins to go under when Lucy turns 7 and the state wants to put her into foster care.Sam approaches a high-powered lawyer, Rita Harrison (Michelle Pieiffer), has earned a reputation as cold and unfeeling.
Sam obviously cannot afford her fees and Rita tries to brush him off.But Sam is persistent and Rits begins to feel for him, finally accepting his case as bro bono , to the shock of her associates. Watch this for the touching story it is and for Sean Penn"s brilliant portrayal as a developmentally disabled adult .
And yes, this is the movie that inspired Main Aisa Hi Hoon but the quality is worlds apart.
