Review of I Am Sam (2001) by Robin H — 05 Aug 2009
Something has to be said about actors who are so willing to throw themselves completely into a role without safety nets, not holding back or even leaving the characters so much as embodying them. (Then) little Dakota does a really solid job for such a young actress, and Michelle Pfieffer really goes through an arc as the sort of character we all are or know.
The soundtrack is a complete and interesting heap of new Beatles-renditions, and damned if Eddie Vedder's take on "You've Got To Hide Your Love Away" alone isn't worth two stars! But this still hasn't quite wrung the tears out of me, even though I can sort of see why some might react that way.
