Review of I Am Love (2010) by Martin O — 14 Apr 2010
I am struggling with some of the negative reviews of this wonderful film. Those who are just seeing the beautiful clothes, house and hairstyles are missing the point. They are there as a contrast at every turn.
The gorgeous clothes with the factory that manufactures them, funded, in part, by the labour of Jews in the war; the elegant urban house and London skyscraper offices filled with a cold, unloving family or business people taking their 30 pieces of silver contrasted with the rough house and caves of the Ligurian alps; the perfect hairstyles shorn as the women choose love over security.
A wonderfully nuanced and powerful film.
