Review of I Am Love (2010) by Sergio M — 10 May 2010
I really wanted to love this, but didn't. tilda is amazing, as usual, and the production is also really good, as so is most of the direction. the visconti tributes are spot on, specially the big birthday dinner at the beginning and the funeral, those shots with the rain on the statues were just stunning.
however, I couldn't help feeling something was missing. I definetely missed to know how the main couple dealt with grief, I felt slightly disappointed they kind of forget about antonio after the funeral.
I really think the real story happens after the film finishes, how their relationship and their lives are affected by the tragedy. and there's also another factor: I just couldn't care less for the upper-classes of the past 75 years.
not interested at all. they all seem a bunch of twats doing twatty things. give me 19th century aristocracy anytime.
