Review of I Am Love (2010) by Ojas V — 26 Oct 2010
Melodramatic and sensuous, this is a film shot with cathederal like interiors, and sweeping italian vistas. Tilda Swinton definitely carries this film as the marginalized, russian matriarch of a powerful textile family in Italy.
She is an outsider who was captured by the charm of Italy, but sadly after years of a loveless marriage ,that passion dwindled. She is renewed by events which transpire in the film, and the director keeps it short enough, to where you don't really feel the emotion drag.
At the same time, it could have benefitted from some subplots being fleshed out further. The end is uplifting, and of course melodramatic....but you can forgive this for the stunning cinematorgraphy!
