Review of I Am David (2003) by Tom F — 08 Apr 2012
Just watched this movie on cable. Wasn't expecting much. Seemed a little morbid at first. It starts in a concentration camp after all and a little boy is the main character. To tell you the truth I shut it off once but recorded it.
Didn't know if I was up to the challenge. I finished tonight. This is movie that breaks your heart at the beginning then breaks it again through the middle several times and finally, at the end, breaks it again.
This is just good cardiovascular exercise. Your heart will be much bigger and fuller for having watched this movie. Lots of great performances by some great actors but in the end it's the story of a little boy being asked to endure what no one should have to endure.
If I tell you any more I'll ruin it for you. Watch it if you get the chance. A little tip here, you're really going to want to hug a child when it's over. Don't let them watch it, just make sure they're handy when your done.
