Review of Hush (2016) by Anthony K — 16 Apr 2016
Clever and fun little thriller from the director of the frickin' fantastic Oculus, Hush is way better than a movie you could normally expect to see debut on Netflix. The acting, while done by maybe 4 or 5 (total) unknowns, is believable, and you really do end up liking the ones you're supposed to like.
There are a ton of smart, small touches, like the accurate signing, the Apple products with their genuine screens & sounds, that help draw in the audience. But if I had one minor complaint, its that even at 81 minutes, it could have been a LITTLE tighter.
Not that there really is any flab to it, but the conceit basically doesn't change as soon as the plot starts about 10 minutes. Fortunately it's all executed very well - watch it!
