Review of Hush (2016) by Rob R — 03 Jun 2016
It's difficult to throw around the word "original" when talking about a Horror film nowadays, but Hush just might be that exception. You're literally hooked from the opening minute. Set in a remote house in the woods, Maddie Young, a deaf and mute author, struggles to survive against a stalker in this technologically driven thriller.
Super suspenseful and 21st century creative, using mainstream communication as a means to tell this story makes its believable. John Gallagher Jr. is a sensational bad guy who stalks and torments Maddie mentally as he slowly attempts to find a way into her home.
As if the two performances by its leads aren't enough to satisfy slasher fans, it's not enough to make this film great without the smart direction of Mike Flanagan. His use of editing and slow building horror makes this film stand out in a genre that is coming back in a big way.
