Review of Husbands and Wives (1992) by Ian H — 05 Jun 2007
One of my three favorite Woody Allen films. The cinema verite, the explosive performances (especially of Judy Davis as Sally, with a force to be felt through Indonesia), the mockumentary: it's like Bad Taste or the Tralfamadorians do national geographic.
A fucking phenomenal character study about people in pairs, and they're parrying of pernicious, routine, conglobating difficulty.
