Review of Husbands (1970) by Matt K — 15 Dec 2009
Another Cassavetes film very much in the same vein as A Woman Under the Influence and Faces, as people vacillate between maintaining some kind of front and struggling to articulate their true feelings, plagued by moments of doubt followed by moments of resolve and then moments of regret.
Although I don't think this one is quite as genuine as the other two films (for reasons I can't quite put my finger on), there are some wonderful insights. The three principals are, of course, dynamite.
