Review of Hunter Killer (2018) by Ernie P — 31 Oct 2018
Fun and exciting, not exactly a documentary about submarine life.
A few deviations from reality that break the suspension of disbelief:
Sailors say "aye" or "aye-aye" not "oorah', or "hoorah" any other derivation, not even "Hooyah.".
Why does every movie insist on driving 300-foot nuclear powered and effectively blind submarines like 1920 barnstorming by-planes under water?
And the guy driving a submarine is called the helmsman or helm, not "pilot.".
Aside from those nitpicks that will probably only bother you if you have been there this was a worthy flick. worth the price of admission, and for me the first look in the control room of a Virginia class boat, man, they are spoiled with space.
