Review of Hunt for the Wilderpeople (2016) by Dave C — 13 Jun 2016

The problem with this is that it doesn't seem to have any idea whether it's a drama, a comedy or a fantasy so you finish up with wildly ridiculous authority figures calling in army tanks to find 2 people in the forest, a thin story of loss and a slender story of 6 months trekking during which our obese little hero loses not a single kilo.

If it was written by a kid, I'd forgive it, but it's not and it comes across, with its strange random editing in of inappropriate music and unfunny comedy shots, as a mishmash of half baked ideas.

Waititi's previous What We Did In The Shadows was one of the least funny comedies I might have ever seen, so perhaps I should have been warned.
