Review of Humpday (2009) by Glenn G — 26 Jul 2009
A terrifically well-observed, uncomfortable comedy that makes you squirm more than laugh, but that's the point. Part Mumblecore, part Bromance, this low budget indie finds many interesting layers with human interactions and how we perceive each other.
Alycia Delmore is wonderful as the wife who understands the lies that men tell more than they know. Mark Duplass makes the most out of every single awkward pause, and Joshua Leonard goes far beyond his BLAIR WITCH performance by showing us the "square" beneath every bohemian.
This is a deliberately paced yet extremely intelligent, thought-provoking piece of work.
