Review of Human Traffic (1999) by Matt W — 08 Jan 2010
Strange film in the sense of love/hate like/detest. Minimal plot. More of a camera following a bunch of pillheads round for the weekend but it just about works.
Draws inspiration on from Trainspotting in the ability to deliver sharp witty banter. "Choose Life" is here all with "The Milky Bars are on me" speech. Problem with is that your pummelled with the the clever lines and witty banter between characters that large parts flies whizzing past your ears and is lost.
Could therefore encourage repeat viewing but it aint that kind of film.
This was the film that put Danny Dyer on the movie map and I think he is the star of the film. He has most of the best scenes and the character that best portrays the subject matter.
