Review of Human Nature (2001) by Tom A — 02 Mar 2004
With The Eternal Sunshine of the Spotless Mind coming out soon, I thought I should check out Human Nature, directed by Michel Gondry and written by Charlie Kaufman. Being a big fan of "Being John Malkovich", I expected this one to be off-paced and wild too. It was. Unfortunately, it failed as a good movie. Perhaps the idea of humans acting like apes turned me off, but the movie just felt so... Empty. At least the film was refreshing, in a mediocre kind of way.
I'm a big fan of Gondry, and there are scenes that you will only see in a Gondry movie (The forest technique, anyone? Bjork vids?). Hopefully, Eternal Sunshine will be a good one.
