Review of Human Nature (2001) by Barb M — 05 Jan 2008
I'm partial to this movie because I love Charlie Kaufman's writing. While there is a very compelling philosophical thread underlying the plot (similar in some ways to Clockwork Orange in its exploration of behavioral norms and how they are formed), the movie ultimately becomes too cute and ultimately dull.
Tim Robbins, normally a great actor, in particular is relegated to a flat performance of a joyless role. Still, fans of Patricia Arquette will find themselves strangely compelled by her savage beauty as she runs through the forest wearing nothing but a thin, revealing coat of Orangutan fur.
