"Hulk Vs" features two self-contained films, 'Hulk vs. Wolverine" and "Hulk vs. Thor." The former is largely Wolverine's story with the Hulk largely remaining offscreen.
The plot focuses on the Weapon X program's attempt to recruit Bruce Banner. It is not necessarily a bad story, but it really does not deliver much of what the title promises. When Wolverine and the Hulk do fight, though, the filmmakers generally give the Canadian midget the better of the exchanges.
Compare this to the much better "Hulk vs. Thor," a film in which Thor is roundly beaten by the Hulk and, in fact, left for dead. In this film, Loki uses the Enchantress to rip Bruce Banner out of the Hulk.
He then sics the completely bestial Hulk on Asgard in hopes of killing Thor while Odin is in the Odinsleep. The carnage is impressive as the Hulk defeats the entire Asagardian army. These two features demonstrate the wildly different characterizations at work in these Marvel films.
In one movie, the Hulk cannot stop Wolverine. In the other, he literally defeats a kingdom of gods (and several frost giants) and is only stopped by Bruce Banner merging back with the raging beast. If the films are viewed separately, perhaps this glaring contradiction is not as obvious.
