Review of Hulk Vs. (2009) by Shane V — 23 Dec 2009
I've been waiting quite a while for the opportunity to see these two, being an avid Marvel fan. I usually don't review such minor films, but people watch it, and I've got an opinion on it. And isn't that what reviews are about?
Hulk VS Wolverine.
When the Hulk is blamed for the destruction of a small Canadian town, the Canadian hero Wolverine is called in to either capture or kill the green behemoth. He agrees and sets off. But when he finds Dr. Banner, the denizens of his past return to threaten both of the great warriors.
The story line is dead-on with the comics, but a bit too swift for effective flow. The characters are voiced very well, and drawn accordingly. The animation is very linear, but doesn't really interfere too much. The characters themselves are varied enough to earn positive attention. The action is surprisingly plentiful and quite enjoyable. Being a decent animation it tries to be mature, and succeeds in the same way all animated features try to be mature. One problem is the length, only about 30 minutes. Another problem is the ending. Practically transparent with no winner, simply leaving us with a conflict that started the movie. Apparently the de-demonization of the Hulk hasn't affected Wolverine in the least. A fun ride, but Marvel fans will get the full enjoyment out of it, despite it's quite effective attempt to be open to everyone. Hulk VS Wolverine receives 6 out of 10.
"Who am I to say no to a little murder? Strike a pose!" -Deadpool.
Hulk VS Thor.
When Thor's father Odin, king and protector of Asgard, enters his annual day-long regenerative sleep, the thunder god and his fellow Asgardians are left to defend their realm alone. But Thor's evil half-brother Loki seeks kingship, and summons Bruce Banner from Earth, and unleashes the threat of the Hulk on all of Asgard, who are defenseless against the not-so-jolly green giant.
Length-wise this is the superior to HVW. As well as storyline with more twists and turns. The characters however are all the same, seeming to be just clones of one another. Again being too short keeps the audience at a distance from full understanding of the situations, but it keeps it open enough for others to enjoy. The animation is the same as HVW, along with its dedication to the comics. The two also serve as a good gauge for the Hulk's strength for those who are new to the character. Although this venture seems a bit too stuffy and refined to be as enjoyable as HVW. I give Hulk VS Thor 6.2 out of 10. Too similar to get a 6.5, but just better by too much of a margin to get a 6.
"For Odin! For Asgard!" -Thor.
