Review of Hulk (2003) by Eero V — 17 Jun 2013
I respect Ang Lee's intentions. He has clearly wanted to make a different kind of superhero film and make Bruce Banner/Hulk an emotionally complex character, and has succeeded moderately. But what superhero films always need is action.
This film doesn't have it, and I don't count scenes where a toy-looking, digitally animated green monster is jumping around and running away from military forces as action. I'm not saying this because I would be some action film junkie, but because I think it's the truth.
The film also suffers from its overlong running time and the waste of a talented cast. Eric Bana is very dull in the title role and the film itself a massive yawn.
