Review of Hulk (2003) by Adrian Z — 11 Nov 2014
2.5 - Hulk spends too much time setting up it's characters, which come across as not all that interesting. With a 138 minute running time, director Lee could have done well to trim 30 minutes of non-essentials.
Hulk versus the military, towards the final act of the film, is fun to watch, and is what the film should have had a lot more of, much sooner. The film also demonstrates how tricky it is to bring Hulk to the big screen.
Ang Lee has fun with screen wipes that lovingly emulate the comic book format, but can't help the CG monster/hero from looking laughable at times. I remember Hulk impressed much the first time I saw it, but since I've come to see it as a very uneven movie.
