Review of Hugo (2011) by Alison O — 09 Mar 2013
Scorsese vowed never to work in 3D again upon completing this movie, so if this is the only kids' story in three dimensions the great director is ever going to make then we should savour the high quality of this one-off.
It's 1930s Paris and orphaned pre-teen Hugo lives in secret behind the station's great clock, maintaining it through the knowledge passed down from his father. Displaying a lifelong reverance for moviemaking in the process, this is simply superb.
