Review of Hugo (2011) by Singe8 — 21 Dec 2011
Hugo takes forever to get going and leaves many things unexplained. The character Hugo is poorly acted and the movie suffers from it. There were a lot of supporting characters that were interesting and could have had a bigger part in the movie, but instead were barely there at all.
The robot, was kind of unnecessary and while you would think it would play a bigger part in the story, it really was out of place in both the story and the setting. The best part about the movie by far was Ben Kingsley's performance as the toy shop owner and film maker Georges Méliès.
The movie has a good moral to it, and if you can get past the unbelievably boring first half of the movie a pretty good second half awaits you.
