Review of Hudson Hawk (1991) by Paul N — 12 Jan 2009
Time for me to come out of the closet: I really dig this film. I dug it when I saw it on opening day, and I still dig it now. Sure, it's chaotic, ridiculous, borderline insane and prone to odd digressions, but for all these reasons and the good stuff-- rapid pacing, ingenious characters and situations, Sinatra songs, a cast that actually looks like they're having fun (which, considering the production problems this had, is quite an achievement)-- I think it's actually a true original.
You'll never see a $65 million movie quite like this one ever again, and I know that people on both sides of the ideological fence will think that's a good thing.
