Review of Howl (2010) by Ankur K — 08 Jan 2011
This far surpassed my expectations and I was pretty excited about this to begin with. I'll be watching this movie multiple times over the years. Very inspiring for writers! The film intersperses segments of the poem Howl (with animation) with Ginsberg's obsencity trial (the poem was deemed "obscene") and interviews with Ginsberg (aptly portrayed by Franco) where he relays his philosophy of life and writing.
These story threads intertwined give deeper resonance to the poem itself and much philosophical food for thought. Brilliant!
