Review of How to Train Your Dragon (2010) by David B — 04 Jan 2015
Aside of Shrek and the slightly better Kung-fu Panda, DreamWorks have come up with a gem that even Pixar would be proud. For once, a DreamWorks animated film is relying on an actual plot and storyline instead of filling the film with pop culture, the jokes are original and most importantly funny.
The animation is pretty good with some neat touches and spectacular scenes but like I said, DreamWorks have focused more on story than visuals. The film is utterly amazing and simple. The voice acting is near perfect and a awe of great characters.
It seems that DreamWorks have finally learn't from Pixar and are contenders once again, but only if they make film like this. It's a great family film and kids will like it, may scare some but nothing to worry about.
The only problem is, it's very predictable and does contain some cliches but the film is full of heart and very grown up for what it is and very, very funny. Hopefully Dreamworks can keep this up.
