Review of How to Marry a Millionaire (1953) by Therese O — 10 Apr 2011
What is not to love? Everything about this film was enjoyable. I want to sit on my balcony and have hot dogs and champagne in celebration. Everything you want in an old film. I was very worried about any kind of horrendous 50's misogyny.
And while there was some, it wasn't as horrible as I was thinking. In fact, the pithy writing, the presence of Lauren Bacall and Wiliam Powell, and the general, fun, tone of the move surpassed any flaws.
