Review of How to Lose Friends & Alienate People (2008) by Katie M — 16 Sep 2009
Not as funny as I expected. Simon Pegg seems outta his element here, not acting amongst his British actors. Instead, he's gone Hollywood and acting beside his American actors. I'm not saying Brits are better than Yanks, but it shows that sometime when you're comfortable with something, and then you take it somewhere place, it becomes different.
The humor is different. Brits humor is more about wry and witty jokes, whilst Americans jokes are more slapstick and dirty. So it's a mismatch. The plot itself is about fish outta water, so Simon Pegg is acting as himself in this movie.
The acting from other actors are meh IMHO. I wish they would make it better.
