Review of How to Be Single (2016) by Justin C — 03 Feb 2016
A rather bland movie full of cliches and hipsterdom led by a bland actress that lacks any spark to root for her messy self. Rebel Wilson and Leslie Mann were the few bright spots of the film, and relegated to roles that are type casts of other roles they've done before, and Alison Brie just came off as neurotic.
The filmmakers use their overdrawn project to recycle cliches and dress them up in Stella Artois bottles and Williamsburg Brooklyn. Just as there are many ways to fall in love, there are more ways to truly find yourself other than alcoholism and rampant sex that may or may not be protected.
A better title for the film would have been How to Be Single in Williamsburg Brooklyn.
