Review of How to Be Single (2016) by Sarah J — 03 Jan 2017
For the life of me I cannot figure out why this movie does not have better reviews. The only thing I can think of is if you're going into it wanting a mindless romantic comedy with all happiness and cliches this is not the movie for you.
This has a greater depth to it and more reflective of real life and what the dating world actually is like, at least from the single 20 something career female perspective. It is geared towards that demographic, so speaking as a member of it's target audience, it hits home in the best kind of way.
Definitely an empowerment movie for sure so I can see why maybe if I wasn't the target audience I wouldn't' like it, but hello, it's called "How to Be Single" and shows female.
Very much puts it right there what' you're in for. Perfect title. I LOVED this movie. It has lots of laughs, great acting, and even some heart. Had me tearing up at times. Don't expect just another mindless romantic comedy.
I was not expecting to like it at all, but this is now one of my favorites.
