Review of How the West Was Won (1962) by Ken J — 30 Apr 2009
I'd say its aim was to sum up the western period, and western films, in as big and ambitious a production as was possible. I was impressed by the scope - 3 70mm cameras filming side-by-side to give the widest and crispest image of any other western, and a sprawling narrative with a gazillion characters covering all the topics of western films, I mean, hat's off to that.
Whether any of the plots themselves are great becomes besides the point, really.
