Review of How Green Was My Valley (1941) by Tim C — 12 Sep 2008
Though I have yet to see Citizen Kane.... I would vote this movie Best Picture of 1941 still... for its unflinching realism...for its social commentary and view on class relations... for its warmth of characters.
.. for its inspiring story... for the talented group of actors...and if I say anymore I will cry. Actually, I take that last part back, Donald Crisp deserved his Best Supporting Actor and Maureen O'Hara completely steals the show.
And the criticism of religious society is very progressive for its time too.
