Review of How Green Was My Valley (1941) by Susan H — 08 Nov 2017
This is a beautiful movie and more reflective of the times than most here realize. First, to our younger reviewers. The use of black and white is not to create an ambience. Color film wasn?t in existence at the time, ah, close to 80 years ago.
One must really have appreciation for films of the era. America wasn?t the same. We don?t have the same values or culture. Just think, we were listening to big band and compare that to the filth we listen to now! Better than Citizen Kane? Maybe then.
But, how often do we agree with Oscar choices today???
