Review of How Green Was My Valley (1941) by Jeff B — 20 Oct 2009
It's been a long while since I saw this film. It was on TV the other day so I checked it out again. Well, it certainly is an excellent film, a wonderful look at a family adjusting to changes and trying to maintain their overall family lifestyle.
The whole cast is great, Roddy McDowall is perfect, a great child performance that really helps carry the film. Of course, Donald Crisp and Sara Allgood were excellent as the parents. Too many people criticize this film for beating Citizen Kane, well, either they just can't accept that this is a good film, or they haven't seen it.
I guess it's just the hip thing to say. Regardless, HGWMV is an excellent film.
