Review of How Green Was My Valley (1941) by Kim B — 14 Jul 2017
I really liked the main characters a lot and it was well acted. I loved the sense of community in the beginning also. The people owning mining companies ought to be ashamed of themselves the way they took advantage of communities and their tight knit families.
Forcing little kids to work and not giving any money to families after their spouses are killed working. The movie was just kind of sad and the end just leaves a bitter taste. I liked the musical score but at times the movie did seem overly sentimental but still somewhat relatable.
I kind of wish this black and white was in color to do the cinematography and theme of movie justice. I would like to read the book after seeing this and wishing it had less of an abrupt ending and more narration.
