This movie that is written and directed by Reginald Hudlin & produced by Warrington Hudlin is an excellent comedy/musical featuring the hip-hop group Kid N' Play as two friends, one who is a nerd/wannabe rapper(Kid) and the other being the troublemaker/ladies man(Play) with their best friend/D.J. Bilal(Martin Lawerence) who during the weekend Play throws a party at his house while his parents are out of town. Kid gets in trouble at school, gets grounded, sneaks out, proves he is a great rapper, falls in love with Sidney(played by Tisha Campbell), and gets a butt whipping by his father played by the late Robin Harris.

Kid gets in trouble with the bullies of his school who are played by the rap group Full Force while trying to defend his mother's honor and later gets in trouble by his father played by Robin Harris and grounded from going to Play's awesome House Party. These characters are well played by each actor. Especially Robin Harris playing Kid's father was a great choice. Play playing himself in this movie was great and so was Kid because I can see them both playing characters like that. The story was well-done and played out great. Nothing was missed.
